Dark Clouds Over the German Auto Industry: Who Wins from Trump's Trade War?

Donald Trump has spoken—again. And this time, the result is nothing short of a full-scale trade war.

Welcome to the "Tariff Tsunami" era, where globalization, supply chains, and economic interdependence are now quaint relics of a bygone age.

The German auto industry, long accustomed to thriving in an interconnected world, is now caught in a perfect storm: the shift to electric vehicles, Russia’s war in Ukraine, the looming specter of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, and now, a lunatic with a tariff fetish running the White House.

For an industry that relied on selling millions of cars in the U.S. while maintaining production hubs worldwide, this is nothing short of an economic disaster.

For Volkswagen, the pain will be particularly acute. Porsche and Audi, its crown jewels, don’t manufacture in the U.S. and will now see their margins slashed by punitive tariffs.

The same goes for BMW and Mercedes, which until yesterday thought their American plants were a ticket to tariff-free exports.

But Trump’s new tariffs are a wrecking ball—one that smashes even German-built cars made on U.S. soil.

The numbers are grim: Financial analysts predict profit drops of 30% for Volkswagen and Stellantis (Chrysler, Jeep, Peugeot, Opel) and 20% for BMW and Mercedes.

Official profit warnings?

Just a matter of time. With the European car market already struggling under heavy-handed CO2 regulations, these tariffs could be the final nail in the coffin for some manufacturers.

Burning Globalization at the Stake: Who Besides Russia Profits?

Trump's logic, if you can call it that, follows an archaic economic philosophy that predates even his haircut.

It’s pure, undiluted mercantilism—a belief that a nation can simply close its borders, manufacture everything in-house, and somehow emerge richer.

It’s the economic equivalent of North Korea’s self-reliance doctrine, except with cheeseburgers and golf courses.

The last time the U.S. tried this—during the Great Depression—the results were, well, catastrophic.

Herbert Hoover signed the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act in 1930, jacking up tariffs to "protect" American industry. The rest of the world retaliated, global trade collapsed, and before you could say "economic suicide," the world was spiraling into the worst economic crisis in history.

A few years later? World War II.

So, who benefits from this madness?

Russia, for one. Putin must be popping champagne. A fractured, economically isolated West is precisely what the Kremlin dreams of. The EU and the U.S. at each other’s throats over tariffs?

China licking its lips at a weakened Western supply chain?

What more could an autocrat ask for?

Then there’s the U.S. corporate elite—the same folks who whisper into Trump’s ear between rounds of golf. American car manufacturers have been losing the race against European and Asian competitors for decades.

With tariffs, suddenly, German and Japanese automakers are in deep trouble, while GM and Ford get a chance to limp back into relevance.

The only catch?

Those "made in America" cars will be built with foreign parts, sold at inflated prices, and still be two decades behind the tech curve.

Meanwhile, European politicians now face a choice: Fight fire with fire, imposing retaliatory tariffs, or take the high road and let Trump set the world on fire alone.

Brussels, for once, should avoid its usual self-destructive instincts. Trade wars are like nuclear wars: Everyone loses.

The Endgame: Welcome to Economic Darwinism

In this new era of economic nationalism, the biggest casualties won’t be billion-dollar corporations.

They’ll survive—either by lobbying for exemptions or passing costs to consumers. The real losers?

Middle-class workers who will either pay absurd prices for their cars or lose their jobs as factories close. And let’s not forget small businesses that rely on global supply chains, only to find themselves crushed under Trump’s economic wrecking ball.

The harsh reality?

America’s economic isolationism won’t make it stronger. It will make it dumber, poorer, and more volatile. The EU, if it plays this right, can turn America’s self-imposed exile into an opportunity—strengthening ties with Asia, Africa, and Latin America while America throws a trade tantrum.

Trump, for all his "genius," has unwittingly handed Russia and China a golden opportunity.

With America sabotaging itself, the question is:

Will Europe let itself get dragged into the abyss, or will it finally learn how to play the game?

Sincerely,

"The Dictator Is Coming", Juncker`s Cheeky Welcome For Hungarian PM.

Did England Leave the EU Because of Hungary — and Why the Hell Can’t We Get Rid of Them Now?

by your friendly neighborhood truth detective

“Welcome to Hungary, the safest country in Europe,” beamed Viktor Orbán on Thursday, standing proudly next to Benjamin Netanyahu.

Safe for whom, one might ask?

War criminals?

Dictators?

Or just other far-right authoritarian bromancers in suits?

Because while the rest of the world watched Netanyahu arrive in Budapest with a nice fat arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) dangling off his briefcase like a price tag, Hungary rolled out the red carpet, the cannons, and probably a cheese platter.

You see, back in November, the ICC issued a warrant for Bibi’s arrest over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Real serious stuff. But Hungary — an actual member of the ICC, mind you — decided that rules are for peasants and liberals, not for honorary guests who drop in at 4 a.m. and get picked up by the defense minister like it’s an Uber Black service.

Let that sink in. Hungary should have arrested Netanyahu. That was its duty. That’s international law.

Instead, they gave him a military welcome at the Buda Castle like he was Napoleon returning from exile, only with worse PR.

But Orbán didn’t stop there. Oh no. This man looked the entire international justice system in the eye and said, “Hold my pálinka.”

Standing beside his old pal Netanyahu, he declared Hungary’s intention to withdraw from the ICC entirely.

Apparently, the court has become “politicized” — translation: it dares to investigate crimes committed by our friends.

Let’s pause for a second here and ask:

Is this why England left the EU?

Because Hungary wouldn’t leave first?

It’s not that far-fetched. Imagine being the Brits, brewing in post-imperial confusion, being told what to do by Brussels while watching Hungary — the EU’s resident toddler with a lighter — light up the rulebook every chance it gets.

Maybe Brexit wasn’t about fish, or migrants, or sovereignty. Maybe it was just one long, exasperated

“Why the hell is Hungary still here?”

Because Hungary isn’t just ignoring international law now. They’re actively spitting on it. Orbán even had the gall to say he still thinks the ICC is “important” and reminded everyone he signed Hungary’s membership back in 2001 — a move that now seems about as binding as a pinky promise at a frat party.

Netanyahu, of course, was delighted. “Thank you, my friend Viktor,” he said, like a mafia don congratulating a lieutenant who just torched the crime scene.

He called Hungary’s move “brave and principled.” Which is rich coming from a guy whose principles have all the consistency of hummus in a heatwave.

Let’s not pretend this is overblown either. Hungary can’t just say “bye” and walk away clean. Even if you file your ICC exit papers, it takes a year to kick in.

And even then, if proceedings have already started — spoiler: they have — you're still legally bound to cooperate.

But will Hungary care? Absolutely not.

They’ve got a long track record of telling international norms to get bent.

What consequences will there be for Hungary?

Zip. Nada. Sweet F-all. The ICC can issue a strongly worded letter, maybe shake a symbolic finger. But actual penalties?

Forget it.

The last time a country ignored an ICC warrant (looking at you, South Africa 2015), the court responded with a stern “naughty, naughty” and went back to filing paperwork in The Hague.

Meanwhile, the damage to the ICC is very real.

When even European states stop giving a damn about arresting alleged war criminals, what does that say about the Court’s authority?

Hungary withdrawing is more than a legal dodge — it’s a symbolic middle finger. And the ICC needs the EU as its backbone, especially since the U.S. has always treated the court like an uninvited vegan at a barbecue.

So here we are: Hungary defies the rules, shields a wanted man, flips off the global justice system, and still gets to call itself a democracy inside the European Union.

All while sucking up those sweet, sweet EU subsidies like nothing ever happened.

Remind me again why we can’t boot countries from the EU?

Or better yet, why didn’t we just swap England for Hungary and call it a day?

At least the British have the decency to be diplomatically sneaky. Hungary just does it in broad daylight with a press conference and fireworks.

But hey, maybe this is Europe now: a polite dinner party where one guest keeps pissing in the soup and everyone just keeps sipping, pretending not to notice.

Bon appétit.

Sincerely,

Europe's Future: Weapons, Sustainability, and Full Employment

The world has changed. The post-Cold War fantasy of eternal peace is over, and Europe stands at a crossroads.

The Swiss government, citing "changed geopolitical conditions," is rearming, reopening military airfields, and reconsidering Cold War-era fortress strategies.

This isn't a Swiss issue—it’s a European imperative. The harsh reality of global conflict is back, and we must face it head-on.

But let’s not stop at a half-hearted military revival. Let’s make this the most radical, transformative shift in European history: an economic model where no one is unemployed, where every person has a role in securing our future—either through the defense industry or the green transition.

If war is coming, we prepare. If peace is the goal, we sustain it through absolute self-sufficiency.

The time for naive pacifism is over. The age of action begins now.

The Cold War Was a Lesson We Ignored—No More

The Swiss had a strategy: permanent explosive charges embedded in infrastructure, hidden fortresses, and an ironclad national defense.

Then came decades of complacency, disarmament, and wishful thinking. Now, faced with the ongoing war in Ukraine and the global rise of authoritarian aggression, Switzerland and the whole of Europe must wake up.

While NATO countries scramble to meet their defense spending targets, Switzerland still dithers, promising to hit 1% of GDP by 2032.

Insanity. The war is now. Europe’s greatest failing is always its lethargy—waiting until the crisis is at the doorstep instead of preparing in advance.

An Economy Without Unemployment: Military-Industrial and Green Revolutions Hand-in-Hand

Europe's unemployment problem is a disgrace.

We have millions of educated, skilled, and willing people wasting away in bureaucracy or meaningless jobs.

The solution?

Every able-bodied and able-minded person should work for the European war effort or the sustainable economy.

The Defense Industry
  • We need factories producing tanks, drones, missiles, ammunition, cyber-warfare systems, and satellite defense.

  • Let’s build new facilities, re-open old ones, and establish military manufacturing hubs across Europe.

  • If Denmark can reactivate an old ammunition factory, so can the rest of us.

The Green Industrial Complex
  • Europe cannot be dependent on imported energy.

  • Every unemployed person not working in the arms industry should be deployed in sustainable infrastructure—wind farms, nuclear power plants, solar mega-projects, and battery production.

  • The world’s next major war will be fought over resources. Europe needs to be energy-independent and climate-secure.

The Swiss Blueprint: A Model for the Whole Continent

Switzerland is an example of what happens when a nation lets its guard down.

It once had an army of 800,000; today, it barely scrapes together 147,000 soldiers with outdated equipment. The Swiss are trying to claw their way back to military relevance, but it’s not enough.

Europe must think bigger. We need a military revolution

Reopen bases, bring back fortress networks, train millions in civil defense, and make military service mandatory for both men and women.

Meanwhile, industry must mobilize for both security and sustainability.

No More Excuses, No More Passivity

The world has entered a new era. The 21st century will belong to those who prepare, who act, and who refuse to be weak.

Europe must lead in both war preparedness and sustainability. This is not a contradiction. This is survival.

There should be no unemployed person left in Europe.

Half should work for the military-industrial complex, ensuring our security.

The other half should drive the green revolution, ensuring our sustainability. This is the only path forward. The only question left is:

Will Europe finally wake up, or will we wait for the next crisis to force our hand?

I know, How about a referendum?

Sincerely,

Adaptation-Guide

Famous Last Words...Mar.31 2025

The American presidency will demand more than ringing manifestos issued from the rear of the battle. It will demand that the President place himself in the very thick of the fight; that he care passionately about the fate of the people he leads...

- John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Famous Last Words: The Collapse of American Democracy

The state of the world is unraveling, and nearly four years ahead, the trajectory is unmistakable. Donald Trump has launched an economic blitzkrieg against America’s closest allies and trading partners, a self-inflicted wound to the very structure that once made the United States an economic powerhouse.

But the damage does not stop at trade wars or tariffs. He has toyed with the idea of annexing Greenland and even Canada, disavowed the USMCA—the very trade agreement he championed—and gutted foreign aid.

There is no logic in his erratic policy shifts, but there is a theme: revenge.

Trump’s vision of America is not one of leadership but of retribution. In his mind, America has been cheated for decades, and his role is to exact vengeance, not build alliances or foster progress.

He has openly mused about abandoning NATO and the UN, alienating the very institutions that ensured global stability for over half a century.

Yet, surrounded by sycophants, blind loyalists, and a Cabinet that serves him rather than the country, he sails forward unchallenged. The world has no manual for dealing with a rogue superpower, especially one that thrives on chaos.

So what can be done?

A global economic boycott?

A mass movement?

The reality is that this president will only be toppled when the very foundation of American wealth crumbles—when stock markets plummet by 50%, inflation skyrockets to 25%, and unemployment spirals past 20%.

Only then, when every American feels the consequences firsthand, will the calls for removal become deafening.

Yet, the broader problem runs deeper than Trump. The American electorate has become willingly complicit in its own demise.

The masses have abandoned reason for rhetoric, logic for lies. The Republican Party has become a vessel for white grievance, corporate greed, and authoritarian ambition.

The Democratic Party, while offering resistance, often fails to deliver a coherent, unifying counter-force.

Meanwhile, the country drowns in racism, bigotry, and willful ignorance, all carefully cultivated through decades of misinformation and a failing education system.

George Carlin once said, “They call it the American dream because you have to be asleep to believe it.”

And indeed, America has been lulled into complacency, hypnotized by false narratives and propaganda. The Cold War struggle against the Soviet Union was framed as a fight for democracy and freedom. But now, the veil has been lifted.

America never stood for democracy—it stood for dominance. And now, faced with a choice, the American people have overwhelmingly chosen selfishness, corruption, and incompetence over principle, reason, and progress.

Putin takes Ukraine. Trump dreams of taking Greenland and Canada.

The reason is simple: authoritarianism recognizes no boundaries. The U.S. was once the self-proclaimed leader of the free world, yet it now idolizes autocrats and mimics the very regimes it once condemned. And why?

Because power has always been the end goal—not democracy, not freedom, not justice.

Trump is likely indebted to Putin, not just in ideology but in action. Having secured the presidency with Russian interference in 2016, he now finds himself in a position to return the favor.

The specifics of his loyalty may be unclear, but the broader goal is evident: to weaken the West and strengthen the forces of tyranny. And yet, tens of millions of Americans continue to support him, their approval unwavering despite the wreckage he leaves in his wake.

John Dewey warned in 1931 that “Democracy will be a farce unless individuals are trained to think for themselves, to judge independently, to be critical, to be able to detect subtle propaganda and the motives which inspire it.” Today, America earns a failing grade. The people, rather than demanding better, have embraced the grift.

This is the reality of America in the 21st century: a nation unmoored, unprincipled, and utterly adrift.

And unless the world—and its own people—act decisively to stop this descent into authoritarianism, the last remnants of American freedom will be lost.

The time for waiting is over.

The time for action is now.

Sincerely,

Adaptation-Guide
